Best Parks for Kids

Parks and kid-friendly outdoor stops to keep in mind around West Palm.

1. Okeeheelee Park

Okeeheelee is the big county-park option west of West Palm Beach: trails, water-sports areas, sports fields, dog-park access, and nature-center programming in one trip. Use it when the family needs a bigger outdoor day than a neighborhood playground can handle.

2. Howard Park

This well-maintained park features two age-appropriate playgrounds, a dog park, workout trail, soccer field, and basketball courts all in one convenient downtown location. The centerpiece giant Banyan tree and ample parent seating make it a popular spot for families, with the added bonus of providing affordable downtown parking.

3. Dreher Park

This expansive park features over three miles of paved trails perfect for walking and running, with two lakes that attract diverse bird species for peaceful wildlife watching. The spacious grounds offer plenty of room for picnics and gatherings, with convenient parking and proximity to the zoo.

4. Phipps Park Baseball

Use this as the active-kids pick rather than a quiet playground stop: the city's Phipps Park and Skate Park page lists playground, shade areas, paved walking trails, tennis, pickleball, outdoor gym equipment, paved and grass sports areas, toilets, and the skate park at 4715 S. Dixie Hwy. Check the city page for current skate-park hours before promising a session.
